Principle

Ammonia (which is of technical and economic importance) is obtained from the reaction of nitrogen with hydrogen. But this reaction is strongly inhibited (high activation energy is needed to start the reaction) and leads normally to poor yields. Beacuse of this reason Fritz Haber and Carl Bosch developed a process for ammonia which is still used today. This process is called “Haber process”. This experiment shows, in a simplified manner the principle of this “Haber process”.
